EMicron Research Ltd has been in business for over 40 years and is the first and only grid-making business in North America.
Our History:
Emicron Research Limited was founded by Dr. Albert Rosenberg and his wife, Pnina Rosenberg.
In the 1960's, Dr. Rosenberg, then a metallurgist at Imperial College in London, England was one of the first scientists to recognize the need for a high quality specimen support system for transmission electron microscopy. Working in his lab, he undertook to develop a greatly improved "Athene-style" grid, giving a much smoother and more uniform bar, as well as a higher percent transmission for each given grid mesh.
The production became known as the Micron line of grids and EMicron Research Ltd as one of the foremost suppliers.
In l97l, Dr. Rosenberg and his wife returned to Canada (his native country) to establish the grid-making facility in Toronto, where the high quality grids and the name EMicron, became the favoured grid in many of the world's most prestigious electron microscopy and Asbestos testing laboratories.
Dr. Rosenberg passed away shortly after moving back to Canada, but not before passing on the secret recipes and production processes he developed to his wife, who has since continued the enterprise. She was one of very few women involved in the business of microscopy in Canada, and her grid-making business is the first and only in North America.

Where we are today:
Sadly, Pnina passed away on June 23, 2019. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Rosenberg and Mike Worden, who learned from her vast experience, continue to manufacture to the same careful specs as Dr. Albert and Pnina Rosenberg, but with the added benefit of modern technology, marrying the best of careful manual inspection of each and every grid, with the added benefit technology has to offer.
What makes us famous now ....
Our most popular grid is the Index II Asbestos 200 Mesh grid, used in many of the asbestos labs around the world:
